Yet another addition to the day...
I read an interesting blog entry today from someone that most of you don't know... It was titled "The Top Ten Worst Bands of All Time".
First off, this guy is a music major, thus he knows a lot about music, so to argue against him about music is just fucking stupid for a computer information systems major. But, I'm going to do it anyway. HaHa.
Ok, to get started. Everyone knows who my favorite band is. Blink-182. Number 2?... Modest Mouse, amongst others. I also like The All-American Rejects, Linkin Park, Simple Plan... well god damn it, that guy has all of those bands on his list... lol.
Blink-182 - Although all of their songs aren't the best, listen to Travis Barker play the fucking drums, that guy is a GOD on drums. However, it's easy for people to judge so-called "Pop-punk" bands, because they make a shit load of money, thus everyone is jealous so they try to critique their work. Although most "Pop-punk" riffs are not hard to play on the electric guitar, it still takes a significant amount of skill to play it.
Hanson - Not good music.
Modest Mouse - Great music. They play many instruments that are not played in most of today's music. It's great to hear a change. My favorite CD by them is "It's a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About". I have a few of their cd's... "Moon and Antarctica, Good News for People Who Love Bad News, It's a Long Drive..., Building Nothing out of Something"
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory was a little repetative, but damn on Meteora they have a Japanese flute in one of their songs. How is that the same as the rest of their music? It's not. They mix it up quite a bit in Meteora. Another thing anyway, when a band uses the same instruments in all of their songs, it's bound to sound the same as their other songs. Unless they use a different distortion for every song...
AC/DC - I think that he just put AC/DC on there, because he knew that almost everybody listens to AC/DC and he knew it would get something out of them. Anyway, AC/DC sucks... most of the time.
Nickelback - I like them, however, I don't like them enough to argue against what he said about them.
Shinedown - Damn they must suck, cause I haven't even heard of them
Limp Bizkit - He nailed it. What he said about them is perfect.
Led Zepplin - I liked "Stairway to Heaven". That's it. No contest.
I guess I only disagreed about Blink, Modest Mouse, Linkin Park, and the other 'teeny-bop' punk bands that he listed. However, those 'teeny-bop' punk bands are not my favorite bands, I still like them, and enjoy their music.
To sum up, I liked his list, because it challenged me. But, Blink-182 is a great band, and surely doesn't belong in the list beside Simple Plan, and Good Charlotte for god's sake. Good Charlotte? Jesus. Good Charlotte are sell out bastards, I mean, I still like a couple of their songs, but damn, comparing them to Blink is criminal.
Ok, enough of that.
My top 10 Favorite Bands: 1. Blink-182 / Box Car Racer
2. The Get Up Kids
3. Modest Mouse
4. The Used
5. Green Day
6. Finch
7. Weezer
8. Nirvana
9. The All-American Rejects
10. The Ataris ---- mostly their old stuff "Blue Skies.." and "End is Forever"
Honorable Mention: Three Days Grace, Trapt, Rage Against the Machine, Yellowcard, Switchfoot, Sugarcult, Mest, Godsmack, Reveille, Slipknot, Unwritten Law
Well that's pretty much all I wanted to say... Later.
